Warning Tape Technical Data Sheet: Roll Length, Width & Thickness

Warning tape roll length should be read with slit width, film thickness, roll construction, dimensional tolerance, and the method used to verify the declared length. This data applies mainly to printed, non-adhesive PE or LDPE warning rolls. Reference dimensions support comparison but are not automatic minimum acceptance limits. Long rolls, custom slit widths, and changed roll condition should be checked against the approved specification and a representative sample.

Dimensional Qualification Boundary

This sheet covers dimensional specification, incoming inspection, and roll-condition checks for printed, non-adhesive PE or LDPE warning tape. Roll Construction Reference

Long-Roll Verification and Sampling

ISO 4592 gives reference methods for plastic-film length and width, but its free-roll-length reference method is intended for rolls up to 100 m. For 200-500 m rolls, use an agreed calibrated metering, controlled unwind, or equivalent documented method. Record calibration status, equipment setting, operator method, roll tension, and result format. Check width as a slit dimension and sample thickness at representative positions.

Reading the Specification

Nominal, typical, measured, and acceptance values are different. A nominal warning tape roll length is the intended target; a typical value is representative data; a measured value belongs to the tested sample or batch. Tolerance defines permitted variation only when the method and pass/fail rule are agreed. Roll diameter or weight may support consistency checks but should not replace length verification.

Compatibility and Pre-Use Check

Width and thickness affect visibility, flexibility, roll build, and handling, but non-adhesive warning film is not a load-rated barrier. Surface type, coating condition, load weight, cargo shape, temperature, humidity, sunlight exposure, storage time, transport distance, equipment setting, and operator method can change field behavior. Before full use, check roll identity, width, thickness, print repeat, unwind, slit edges, twisting, tearing, and fixing behavior. If an adhesive fixing component contacts a surface, assess edge lifting, adhesive trace, surface shadow, gloss change, bubbles, and residue separately.

Keep original units traceable when converting mil to um, ft to m, or inch to mm. Rounding should not create a different acceptance limit.

Retest Triggers After Storage or Transport

Temperature, humidity, sunlight, storage time, roll pressure, poor stacking, vibration, and damaged wrapping can change blocking, telescoping, core condition, or edge geometry. After long transport, visible crushing, unusual heat exposure, or extended storage, inspect roll geometry and perform a short unwind check. Repeat representative measurement when roll condition has materially changed.
